See how any spreadsheet really works.
Inherited a workbook with thousands of formulas and no map? Drop it here. In seconds you'll see how the sheets feed each other, where the assumptions are hiding, and which formulas look wrong.
No file handy? . It has five mistakes planted in it. See if Untangle finds them all.
The whole map, not one arrow at a time
Start with the sheet map, then open a sheet to follow inputs through copied formula blocks to results. Thousands of formulas become a handful of groups you can explore.
Why is this number what it is?
Click a cell to see its formula tree, saved input values, and downstream dependencies. Intermediate values appear when the formula and its upstream calculations match Excel’s saved results.
The mistakes that hide in plain sight
Find numbers typed over formulas, short totals and hidden assumptions. Try a different input or a proposed repair, see the calculated effects across sheets, then save a private report. Your workbook stays unchanged.
Private by design, and you can check
Untangle has no server and no upload. Your workbook is unzipped and read by JavaScript inside this browser tab, then forgotten when you close it. To check: load this page, turn off your Wi-Fi, then drop your file. It still works. The page counts anonymous visits (GoatCounter, no cookies), and never sends anything from your file.
Reads .xlsx and .xlsm (Excel 2007 and later; Google Sheets and LibreOffice can save as .xlsx). Old .xls files and password-protected workbooks need re-saving first. Untangle doesn't run macros. Source code.
